Kaweka

Kaweka is the second specialised build to rent project developed by Hāpai Housing and further reinforces collective iwi investment enabling housing outcomes for whānau. Kaweka provides a high-quality, sustainable rental community that supports urban regeneration and diverse housing needs.

Hapai has worked with Ngāti Maru to ensure mana whenua values are woven into the design principles, fostering a culturally responsive living environment with a strong sense of place and belonging.

The use of Te Ao Māori and values ensures a commitment to long-term and stable rental options, and the interest of our iwi owners continue beyond the development phase by prioritising housing security and affordability over short-term returns, ensuring Kaweka serves our whānau for generations.

Located on New North Road, the site is well-connected to schools, supermarkets, public transport, shops, and reserves, enhancing convenience and reducing dependence on private vehicles. Thoughtful landscaping and permeable surfaces help manage stormwater while enhancing Kaweka’s ecological resilience.

Kaweka features a three-storey, Homestar 7-rated apartment building, offering 44 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. These energy efficient homes prioritise natural light, ventilation, and thermal performance to create healthier, more comfortable living spaces.

In partnership with Ka Uruora, affordable rental solutions are provided for whānau. Hāpai Housing also provides market rentals.
