Waikārapi
Delivered by Hāpai Housing, in close partnership with Te Tauihu iwi, Waikārapi is a 94 home master planned subdivision in Blenheim, Marborough and is an excellent example of collective iwi investment enabling mixed tenure housing outcomes for whānau.
As well as the quality setting, Waikārapi is located adjacent to Wairau Hospital, has excellent school zoning, is on the Southern bus route (with a stop close-by), and just a short 10 - 15 minutes’ walk to significant open spaces (including Churchward Park, Oliver Park, Harling Park and A&P Park). Nearby shops offer convenience, and all against the backdrop of Wither Hills Farm Park, a beautiful setting for brand-new housing in Blenheim.
The name and narrative for Waikārapi was provided by Rangitāne and Ngāti Rārua and describes the system of waterways that sits behind Te Pokohiwi o Kupe and is fed by the Ōpaoa and Wairau rivers – the meeting point between freshwater systems and the intertidal flows of Te Koko o Kupe.
Waikārapi represents a new way of living, combining a high-quality community environment focused on building a community, giving back the streets to the kids and delivering 94 homes located at the foot of Te Hau, the ancestral maunga that embodies a desire to push boundaries and deliver something very special for community.
Waikārapi is delivered with the support of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development - Land for Housing Programme, and Ka Uruora Te Tauihu.
